Purple Button Sunday May 9 - Mother's Day - This is a day celebrated all over the world to honor our Mothers, although the dates and months of Mother's Day differ from country to country. Mother's day is the occasion to pay rich tributes to one of those persons who have had a great impact on our lives, a person whose love and care knows no boundaries, a person who does everything to keep her children happy an joyous.

May 28-31 - Memorial Day. This is a day when we pause to give thanks to the people who fought for the things we have. It also means it is time for the 33rd annual Guam - Rota - Guam sailboat race held by the Marianas Yacht Club. This usually makes for an exciting long weekend. Have any friends with a sailboat in Guam? Give them a call and come on over!

Purple Button Sunday June 20 Father's Day is a day to honor all the fathers for everything they did for their children. This is an occasion to express gratitude towards your dad for all his love and support.

Purple Button Monday September 6 - Labor Day weekend and a good time to take a break and what better place to take it than Rota.

Purple Button Time again for the biggest yearly event on island, the "Rota Fiesta" will take place on the weekend of October 8-11. The official day of celebration for the patron saint "San Francisco deBorja" is Sunday the 10th with Mass and a procession in the morning followed by fun, food, refreshment and entertainment throughout the day. Make your reservations early as hotels and rental cars are usually booked up pretty fast.

Purple Button Monday October 11 - Local CNMI Holiday - Commonwealth Cultural Day. Also celebrated as "Columbus Day".

Purple Button Saturday November 13 - It's time again for the 17th Annual Rota Blue Triathlon, so that gives you plenty of time to train for either the Olympic distance or the half Ironman distance. This is a big Rota event with lots of good people and a chance to show your athletic stuff. Purple Button Wednesday November 11 - Veterans Day is a Federal and State Holiday in America honoring military veterans. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed this holiday on November 12, 1919 to celebrate the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I.
